Blue Tears is an immersive installation that brings together natural phenomena and myth, science and spirit. This project was inspired by the appearance of Noctiluca Scintillans' bioluminescent phenomenom “blue tears” along the shores of Xiamen. In many East Asian cultures, water is considered sacred, alive with energy and inhabited by unseen spirits. Drawing from these cultural beliefs and the visual wonder of bioluminescence, Blue Tears envisions a world where aquatic monsters and microscopic algae coexist—a space where myth meets ecology.

Through projection mapping, installation, and ambient sound, the piece reveals invisible marine life and ghostly water spirits that awaken only when disturbed. Viewers are invited to step into a liquid dreamscape where the boundaries between folklore and biology dissolve, and where the unseen world quietly shimmers into view.
